Ryker still believed passionately that proper teams were built on trust, but he supposed he understood why exactly mental powers were best kept secret. As distrusted as shapeshifters probably. Percival accusing him of being no better than anyone else still stung though, as though he thought so lowly of Ryker, when Ryker had respected and admired both Percival and Galahad, and all of the Table Knights for so long, it was like a punch in the gut.
"There are none. I'm it," Suzanne said, looking up at Camus. "I'm the matron. An immortal witch, and I have all the power of every witch who's ever existed. That demon made a contract with the first matron, millennia ago, and when I became matron, I did what I had to do, to ensure that I wouldn't be forced to do its bidding," she looked back into the flames, folding her arms together in her lap. "I oversaturated the contract, and it has been lulled into a half-sleep, one that I can maintain for now with petty sacrifices. The urges of the contract, however...can be intense around the new moon, which is why I...kissed you and I apologize," she said, looking up at him once again.
Amelia looked up at him, confused. "Should I not show respect?" she asked.
