Name: Aaron Cold
Race: Human
Age: (16 or older) 21
Appearance:
Aaron ColdBio: Aaron is not from a family of Embervale. No, Aaron is a street urchin, thief, and killer from Valorys. He and his family traveled through Valorys as part of the desires of his parents to see all the capitals of the world, when he was 6. Unfortunately, since Valorys lacked a capital, they resolved to see the biggest cities of the land. That would be their undoing, as they made their way to the second largest city in Valorys. With people that fight for money, there comes those that kill for money. Aaron’s family was not wealthy or well respected, but they were well enough off. That was good enough for these ruffians, as they stepped forth to claim their soon-to-be ill-gotten gains. Blades were drawn. His father was a decent fighter, as he used to be a member of the guard in Erindae. However, everyone has their limits. That was something his father always said when Aaron tried to do things he couldn’t. And truly, five against one was beyond his father’s limit. His family are not dragon riders. His mother had no idea how to fight, but when her husband was struck down, she tried her best. She did what any mother would do, and tried to protect her son. It was to no avail, as she was mercilessly put down and stripped of anything of value. The attackers were not done with Aaron, though. He was beaten to the point of broken bones in several places, and severe lacerations across his body.
Left in the wastes to die, he certainly would have if a dwarf had not found him. A less-than-charitable man known as Eribois Gold, a dwarf mercenary missing a leg was his savior. The young Aaron was terrified of the peg-legged, sharp and fierce dwarf for a time, not quite accepting that his parents were dead and gone forever. He wanted to run from Eribois, to go find his parents and have all be well again, but Eribois’ words sunk in slowly. They were gone, and either he stayed under the roof of this old and angry dwarf, or he would never find his way home. Due to the beating he was dealt by his assailants, he was unable to move much for the first couple of months regardless. As time went on, he could not remember the attack well. He did not know the faces of his attackers any longer. Something burned within him, that he did not understand. He did not understand that it was a desire for revenge that would never be fulfilled, if he could never remember who it was he needed to seek vengeance on. He was too young, and the beating had done far too much to him. And so, there he resided, in a lowly home in the muck and dirt of Valorys, with a crippled dwarf.
Eribois was not an unkind man, but he was strict and demanding. He had Aaron do all of the chores that were never done around the house before, as well as the few that the dwarf could manage to do originally. He worked Aaron hard, but he fed him, housed him, and clothed him. He provided for Aaron where he would be without, if he was on his own. Aaron hated it at first, and hated Eribois. But as time went on, he came to see Eribois as his guardian. A protector that had saved him from suffering until death. He taught the young human boy to cook, clean, talk with people of various cultures, read, and how to defend himself. All the tools of the trade for a mercenary. However, Eribois was not his father figure. No, nothing could ever replace his parents. Aaron soon found that he could not remember his last name. He tried and tried, but as a child he always had a hard time remembering how to pronounce his last name. He was never taught to read by his parents, so he never knew how to spell his name either. He had never seen his name on paper. So, Aaron asked Eribois if his last name would be Gold now, since he lived with the dwarf. Eribois laughed, and explained that he would not be of the Gold family. He was a human, whereas Eribois was a dwarf. They were not related, so they would not share a last name. Aaron explained he could not remember his last name, and stated that he wanted one like Eribois had. They talked it over, and he became Aaron Cold, because he enjoyed cold air more than hot air. The reasoning of a child.
Aaron lived with Eribois for three years. Aaron was 9 when a band of mercenaries arrived at the doorstep. Eribois answered, and conversed with them while Aaron quietly listened from the other room. He knew not to poke his nose in things that were none of his business, but he listened none the less. The mercenary group was requesting that Eribois travel with them, as a mentor to their recruits. They had heard of his exploits, and wished for him to travel with them. Eribois wished to accept, but declined because of “personal reasons”. That was when Aaron popped in, and told Eribois to go ahead and go with them. He was a big kid now, he could watch the house while Eribois was gone. Eribois had a temporary lapse in judgement, and accepted their offer. A few days later, he was packed up and leaving. Aaron felt for the first in a long time that night, the crushing weight of loneliness in this world. He was alone again, all because he pushed Eribois to leave and pursue his dream. He couldn’t sleep much that night.
The very next night, a window to the house was broken with a rock. Thieves had come to take from the home, since everyone knew Eribois was gone. Aaron was terrified. His first fight was rife with flashbacks to what happened to his parents, and he failed to stop the robber as he took some things and left. Another came, and Aaron mustered up his courage. He attacked the robber, and dealt some serious wounds to him. He couldn’t bring himself to kill a man, the thoughts back to his parents and their fate ripe in his mind still. The man did eventually succumb to his wounds, and the thief’s allies realized what had happened. They all came in as a group, and went for everything they could take. Aaron was forced to run away, and watch as the house was burned down out of spite. And so, he was back on the street, with no home to return to. Aaron had learned enough from Eribois that he could survive on the streets, stealing and fighting others for what he needed to survive. He had hope, for when Eribois came home. He just had to stay alive until then.
It was some months later, when the mercenary group he recognized had returned. Without Eribois. He had given in to disease during their travels, and Aaron was given the dwarf’s sword. After that, Aaron had become jaded and spiteful. He hated the world for what it had done to him, his parents, and Eribois Gold. He stole, killed, and survived. It was all he could do now. He wished to grasp to life in this vile world that had tried so hard to take it from him on multiple occasions. His spirit burned bright, though for all the wrong reasons. Instead of trying to be a light in the darkness, he was a raging fire that wished to consume everything it could, so it could continue to burn. That was when a dragon rider found him. His spirit did burn bright, and he seemed to have potential. As such, he was a risk they were willing to take. He was taken to Emberstone and given a dragon. A golden dragon was given to him. Only one name resided in his mind, as he looked over the wonderful, small gold creature. Eribois.
Aaron and Eribois trained in the school for years. Eribois could feel the emotions still lingering within Aaron, thanks to their soul bond. Revenge. He still desired revenge on the thieves that had done so much to him. Eribois pestered him for weeks on end, until he finally broke down and discussed it all with his dragon. His childhood, what led him here, and the origin of his partner’s name. Their conversation was hours long, but it did the job. Aaron was lifted of his emotional weight placed upon him by the events of his life, by confiding in the one person who could understand him most. With renewed fervor and a heart that was a light rather than a fire, he continued his training.
Now, Aaron is in his 8th year at the academy. An ace in everything he sets his mind to, he is undoubtedly a prodigy. Even his dragon, the golden dragon Eribois, is far larger than other dragons. Whereas most dragons can only get as large as 50 meters, Eribois is an immense monster at 60 meters. they quite powerful, and they have not been slacking on their training. Both share a common trait of being over-achievers now, which has directed much ire from others towards Aaron. A street rat standing among the elite is what he is, and he is outperforming them. This ire might be more vocal, if not for how powerful his dragon was. Thanks to the presence of Eribois, the hatred and elitism this society has developed is contained to whispers and carefully placed glares. None the less, Aaron is not cocky, nor is he rude. He is a kind soul that will help any who need it, and he knows his limits. People can rely on him, if they are just willing to overlook his origins. His stoic and yet fierce nature doesn’t do him any favors, though.
Extra: Aaron lost Eribois’s sword during his years of thieving. He similarly likes to fight with a single short sword and no shield, though. Is specialized in Aerial combat, and has a secret anti-dragon technique for if anyone ever tries to attack him due to the prejudice, thanks to the combat master.
Dragon:
Name: Eribois
Appearance:
GOLDBio: Eribois is fiercer than stoic, in opposition to Aaron’s more stoic than fierce personality. The two are best friends, as he relies on Aaron just as much as Aaron relies on him. They are twin monsters, nigh unsurmountable by the less experienced in Eribois’s eyes. He is far less humble than his master, though he very rarely outright brags anymore. He would die for his rider, as his rider would for him. They know everything about each other, even as far down as their emotions and feelings towards others. He is no gossip, though. Aaron trusts him with this vital information for good reason.

Name: Kolin (Koh-lihn) Ferlin
Race: Half-elf
Age: (16 or older) 16
Appearance:
MehBio: Kolin comes from the Ferlin lineage, a rather powerful and still potent lineage. He has twin older siblings named Gareha and Fareha, in the 5th year. He is only in his 3rd year, and he seemingly cannot compare to his above-average older siblings. He tries his best, but he is only getting by in classes, and his dragon, Toklomac, is clearly the dominant one of the two. He is constantly downtrodden, but he tries his best not to bring others down. His experience with his dragon was one of awe and wonder, when he actually managed to get a dragon. Being such a meek and unimpressive one, his family expected little. When he managed to get a dragon like his older siblings, they expected much from him. Being among the last to get a dragon, he can only feel like perhaps he has stolen what should have been someone else’s, in the form of a dragon. Someone more deserving and capable of being a dragon rider. His spirit is not nearly as strong as it once was, when he gained his dragon. His potential is still there, but it is clear his depressing situation is affecting him and his dragon’s performance. He wishes he could escape from it all, but at the same time, he could not bear to be a further burden upon his family, not to mention what that would do to Toklomac, who he believes deserves more than he has been given. His is a tale of failure and envy.
Extra: Kolin enjoys reading
Dragon:
Name: Toklomac
Appearance:
BroahBio: (personality, what they think of their ride/etc) A dominant personality that still cares deeply for his rider, Toklomac is tired of Kolin’s attitude. He tries day in and day out to cheer up the half-elf, even convincing him to do things that help, by being a very straight forward and forceful personality. In reality, he simply cares for his rider, he is not normally a dominant personality. He would gladly submit to his rider, if he just acted like he was worthy of being a partner, rather than a weight on Toklomac’s back. He would gladly appreciate help.

(Instructor of combat)
CS:
Name: Kelden Logsmasher
Race: Orc
Age: (16 or older) 944
Appearance:
OldrcBio: (please give description of when you first met your dragon/what family you come from) Kelden is one of the originals. He is a very old orc, and his appearance shows this. He has always been, and will always be, a warrior at heart. He is the trainer of combat at the academy. He and his partner Yith’finno are not to be trifled with. When he first met Yith’finno, he was actually in his 40s. He was made a dragon rider as a test to see if older people could properly follow the same process as younger people with a dragon, and it worked to a degree. He took on a more fatherly role with his dragon, treating him like a child even to this day. His family is long gone now, as he is an original and they were never dragon riders. He is very observational and receptive to the problems of others, and is always an open ear. He has even gone so far as to teach Aaron Cold a special technique to help him better combat other dragons, in case there is ever an attempt on his life. And he would gladly do similar for others that need such help. He is not married, a celibate by choice because he believes it improves combat ability.
Extra: Can use a variety of weapons, but favors the spear and shield, even atop a dragon.
Dragon:
Name: Yith’finno
Appearance:
It's just a rathalosBio: (personality, what they think of their ride/etc) Yith’Finno grew out of being treated like a child long ago, but he never stopped playing along with it. It makes Kelden happy to treat him like the child the orc never had, and he doesn’t exactly hate the fact that he is rather spoiled by his rider. He is very kind hearted, though once combat starts he is like a ravenous beast, fighting tooth and nail in every fight because that is what he was trained to do.
