You. Yes, you. An average life, nothing different, nothing unusual. An ordinary law abiding citizen. You could study hard, and still get a lousy job. You could not study at all, and still get a minimal wage job. Just to do what? Waste your life away? Modern age, we see the rise of robots. Some were independent, but most relied on their creators. Basic flips, able to challenge others, and self driving cars. Little by little, points of our lives were replaced by simple thinking robots. Phones, for example, could be set up to respond to every command or question. That was a norm for everything to be interconnected with one another. It was all for makinf our lives simpler, more time to ourselves, and less time on the most mundane every day to day tasks.
This was the time and age where, "Alexa, please lower the temperature of the house to 70 degrees," was common. Trust was built on these programs to follow our every bidding and command. Bank accounts, emails, and anything on the web could be searched for by a single command. As humans, this was our innovation. On the same side, we furthered this exploitation. Ways to make robots to take care of the laundry, vacuum the floor, and even drive a car to withdraw cash from a bank. They were designes to be helpful, and furthered the law to never willingly harm a human.
Disaster struck not long after. As robots became independent, civil rights and the definition of humanity became two of the hottest topics. Riots and protests for both anti robot rights and those pro robot rights groups could be found marching and shouting on the streets. With all civil rights, change did not come quickly. After decades of constantly campaigning, our beloved AI programs and robots was soon deem to have the same rights as their counterparts. Many celebrated that day when the Supreme Court agreed that segregating robots was unconstitutional. It wasn't another few years before humans once again, took advantage of the simple minded creatures once more.
Human enhancements. Coupling with a willing robotic limb or AI program installed into the brain became a revolution. Want to make studying easier? Just download UpgradedStudying.exe and taking notes would be a thing in the past. Want to become a mechanic? Just download Mechanic101.exe and you'll soon be fixing flying cars in no time. Time preparing for a certain job or creating a new invention was significantly cut short with the new invention of neural chips and the adaptive robotic limbs that fixes itself to your neural system. And it took the nation by storm. Next door neighbors would have kids implanted with the chips, and a robotic limb to boost their chance to be successful in their lives.
Perhaps it was too successful, or maybe even the lack of government control were incentives for trouble. Private companies sprang up, offering all sorts of services ranging from malware protection to programs of dissecting frogs. As with any piece of technology, viruses and threats of being hacked were soon problems that were brought up. Nothing was 100% unhackable. Someday, someone would try their hack their way into other's technology. Bingo! Within just weeks of this concern, a massive surge of firewall and malware protection were brought from the private companies, much cheaper than the government programs. Before long, a group of notorious hackers soon threatened the trust built upon our own technology.
Freedom fighters, they were called, with no exact group name. Hackers that promises the rise of anarchy, and no strict governmenr regulation. Viruses ran rampant across the web, which easily became the start of corruption increased as the months went on. Hospitals found themselves out of beds for those with programs that had viruses which ran under the radar of the program's protection. Robotic limbs that reached a certain level of corruption had a mind of its own, slowly controlling the brain via the neural chip inserted just below the left frontal lobe. Once again, the nation was gripped with fear as humans with enhancements attacked their counterparts, setting off once again another round of arguments pertaining to the usage of these ai programs and robots.
You are allowed to be anyone, ranging from highschool student or an adult with a job. Neural chips and having a robotic limb for enhancements was an option and still is an option to take. As the government struggles, your actions dictate the future of your life, and for others. The more enhancements you have installed, you'll be more susceptible you are to viruses and corruption. As weeks go by, the level of corruption increases. Once the corruption level hits 85%, there is no hope left for you. With a fully corrupted brain, cleaners will come and collect you away, never to be seen again. Your days are limited. Will you be able to trust the friends you make or even be able to trust yourself?
You are an ordinary citizen. Maybe a highschool student or even a fast food worker. Getting neural chips or a robotic limbs was optional, but was a recommended route to have a successful life. As a fully functioning human, enhanced human, or robot, you walk fully on the streets with the same rights as one another does. Having optional enhancements made your life easier, but with added concerns of security. Having no enhancements meant a harder life, but a much more simpler life.
