While admitedly in more detail this is about a summation of what the book says.
"After an attack by Chaos Demons sent by Xiluhr, was fended off by Ember and Nocturne. Ember revealed her true nature and why the Chaos Demons would attack her. Ember was a Dragon, not only that but a Dragon Princess as well. She was on the run from not only her own kind from an arranged marriage she despised but accidentally exposed herself to XIluhr. WIth Xiluhr's venomous hatred towards Dragons, she knew they would be hunted..
Now thinking of options, Ember decided it was time to go back the Dragon Lands, putting aside a growing personal affection for the noble Nocturne especially with how well he took the news of her being a Dragon at all. Ember went back for one reason and one reason only and that was to find the legendary blade known as Godslayer. In times of old the blade was crafted by Aion to be a counter measure for rogue gods. Buried under the dragons most ancient of temples, it lay there until the day it would be needed. Ember felt that this was that day.
So they made a trip towards the Dragon Lands, however another force caught with of their plans. Kaos, Lord of the Infernum. At the time, Kaos's Pride Demons were engaged with Xiluhr's Chaos Demons in a war in the Infernum. Kaos swore that only he would be the one to destroy Xiluhr so he followed them when he caught wind of what they were goign to do. Even worse, Xiluhr also caught wind and thought it was an effective weapon to destroy her father once and for all.
After a series of trials the Dragon King made Nocturne do, Nocturne was about to be rewarded the Godslayer but that's when the Infernal Family attacked. (Kaos and Xiluhr)* With their war spilling over, into the Dragon Lands, Xilhur and Kaos dueled. During that duel, Nocturne decided that maybe it would be the best time to strike. However before he could strike XIluhr with the blade, the blade vanished.
Nocturne claims that Aion said in his head. "No Mortal shall possess this blade." and that she would "cast it down to the darkest depths of Arenith" Many scholars claim that she means Standing Falls, one of Arenith's greatest national landmarks. However others think that this means she casted it back under the Dragon's Temple sealing it away with an even tighter lock.
