We grew up. We matured, we discovered what voices we preferred in our writing, and brought it here. I don't like big flashy battles, and I think power is overrated, I think the relationships between characters matter most. I like surprises, but I like them to be fair, not to the detriment of others or done for the sake of shock value. I like shock value to be earned.
This site is still fun for me. Right now, this site is my safe haven. My life is a mess, but we all just want fairness. Dillon we can't RP like we used to because we aren't who we used to be. There needs to be fairness, something that wasn't needed before because we didn't know it's concept, and if we did it took a backseat to how crazy big and powerful everything could be. I don't like that anymore.
When I say fairness, I don't mean every character on an equal playing field, I mean respect between rp-ers and respect between characters and the stories they've made. Oftentimes you shoehorn things in, Dillon, but others, we put a story behind our reasoning. Nyke went on a quest and got boosted to god status unwillingly, and she's scared. Amelia went mad, tried to fix herself, got taken, and is finally on the mend and becoming powerful in her own right, and that's taken hundreds of pages. Carly is a queen, and a broken one at that, but she works for it, something that's written there. Their powers and their struggles, and their stories are there to be seen and set themselves as who they are. Equi has written Syon's story this whole time, and he has a whole long ass word document for all the table knights that dates back years. We're so passionate about this because our characters, that we love and cherish and put so much work into, are protested, and disliked because they go up against something you want to do. We're (see I'm) only asking for fairness and respect for the work we've done.
I love this site, I come here every day and look forward to roleplaying. Maybe I take it too seriously, but I can't not take it seriously. AVD has been my life for years and years and it's help make the writer that I am today, and I'm not going to cut my creativity to return to 12 year old me. I hate 12 year old me. I can't write carefree anymore, without caring about what's to come. I can't.
That being said I don't think that means things should end, I just think we should work on things together. Collaboration, that's what roleplaying is at its heart. Like we've said before, it's good to go to the chat, because we discuss ideas and issues and plans there, amicably. We know you like your secrets and hold tight to all your cards, but I think it might be best to loosen that grip some. The best arcs and scenes and bombs you've dropped these past couple years have been the ones you've shared if even a little. Knowing something helps us work together to make these threads the best they can be.
