Name: Killian Rogers Gender: Male Age: 22 Race: Genasi (fire variant) Appearance: Full Headshots Blue Hair (credits to the artist) Abilities/Equipment: Innate fire magic, genie wish granting and trickery Bio: Killian Rogers was born the fourth generation of a genasi family, a genasi being the half-breed occurring between Genie and Human. This hybrid is incredibly rare, hunted and sought after for their potent wish granting ability, but the Rogers quickly realized they needed a cover in order to remain a family, to live a life outside of chains and forced wishes. So, the matron of the family, the human woman chosen by the genie to bear her child, took her child and joined a convent. Over the years, her family continued the same methods, hiding their powers under a religious guise in order to avoid detection and protect themselves from the inevitable hunt that would occur if anyone knew they were truly genasi. That was, until Killian was born. Though his aunts, uncles, and cousins all have some semblance of genasi power, Killian is a born direct descendant, receiving nearly the full set of powers his great-grandfather had been bestowed as the first-born of a genie and a human. His fire powers manifested first, and early, though they were quickly stifled by his parents. The fire magic wasn’t a dead give-away of his heritage, of course, but it was enough to ask questions of what he was, and they couldn’t have that. When his potent genie magic began to appear, granting even the most asinine wish heard on the wind before he had control, his family packed up and moved, all while trying to drill into a five-year-old’s brain that his magic was bad and he needed to hide it. Killian hated this, and fought against his family’s insistence to hide who he was. He loved playing tricks on the local kids of the towns they visited, betting he could do something, doling out riddles, anything he could do to celebrate his heritage instead of suffocating it. This resulted in his family transitioning to a more missionary-like religious group as opposed to settling with a church in a town, but no matter what, they couldn’t keep Killian under control. Around the age of 12, when Killian was meant to be “helping the unable” in the poorer district of town, he ran into a slum of thieves and prostitutes. One of the thieves, the so named Chief of their little thieves’ guild, attempted to rob Killian of his basket of food, but when Killian out-tricked him his knife in a card game, he quickly fell in with the crowd. Though they only spent 6 months in that city, Killian learned a lot, from the whores how to sweet talk his way in and out of anything, and from the thieves, how to use the honeyed whip of his words to swindle anyone that crossed his path out of house and home with the alluring offer of wishes fulfilled. Moving forward, Killian fell in quickly with the people of the slums at every town and province they came to, learning to hide things from his family and live the way he wanted to live, not how they wanted him to. That was, until he was sixteen. The town they had just moved to didn’t have a thieves’ guild, but rather a gang that did not take kindly to Killian’s tricks. After a kidnapping, a turf war, and a threat on the lives of his family, Killian decided that for their safety, he needed to leave his family and go off on his own. He traveled through the empire for a little while, but after several arrests, a month-long man-hunt, and a rather perturbing cult incident, Killian made the choice to leave and find his way in the human lands. Not long after leaving, he encountered someone that would truly shape who he was and how he worked from then on. Carvel, an ice genasi rogue, found Killian late one night, having heard of the trickster fire genasi traveling the human lands cheating people of their wishes and taking their livelihoods. He taught Killian that while a silver tongue was useful, if you couldn’t defend yourself it would not get you far. They traveled together for a few months, Carvel teaching Killian how to fight, to sneak, to steal, to kill, but late into the winter, he just up and disappeared. That was six years ago, and for six years he’s been traveling through the Human lands, gathering prizes and enjoying his genasi life. He felt no threat of enslavement from the humans as it was rather a taboo topic among them, though some of the richer fold tried to threaten him into services once they found out he could grant wishes. He’d learned by that time who to avoid and what places in the city welcomed him, and which didn’t. He’d reveled in good luck, that was, until he met a pirate captain. Over an innocent (read: completely rigged) game of chess, the captain bet his ship, and Killian gladly took the bet, offering up three wishes should the captain win. The handshake solidified the deal, and at the end of the night, Killian had checkmate and a ship to himself. What shocked him was when the Captain set a bottle on the table, a ship inside. Killian was furious at first, but knew as he studied it that there truly was a ship inside, it simply needed to be released in order to be used. The Captain left him with it, disappearing into the night, and Killian tried to no avail to get it open. The cork wouldn’t come out, he couldn’t even smash the glass by dropping it off the roof. Chagrined, he pocketed the bottle and moved on. This was just a few weeks ago, and now Killian had set his destination for Hetter, to try and see if anyone could magically release his ship. Extra: His hair will turn hotter, and blue, if he gets angry/frustrated/scared
