This is the first time I've actually had an idea for a setting first and characters second. As I stated in my TIMELINE SHATTERED thread I have this idea for a modern world where magic is just prevelant, it THRIVES. Many magical things are there, its very high fantasy and there are established rules on how things work.
I've got a few ideas, but this one I think should be the most united thread before we even start.
So let me get the stuff I'm good at out of the way and we'll work from there to add more ideas. The Monsters
The monsters are integrated pretty well in society.
In the case of what can Lycanthropes do in this thread: They can transform at will, but feel very sick during the daytime, and there are companies that make false human flesh that keep them healthy and fed. The forms are various, the most common being Werewolves (because Dillon), and most are very rural in nature, providing meat from hunting and other such things.
In the case of Vampires: Vampires are Night Shift people only. The sun does not hurt them but makes them very queezy, they have their own seperate school with various other nocturnal animals. They have the Bloodlines thing where are different types of vampires. There are blood packs that feed the vampires.
In the case of Man-Made monsters; First and foremost you need a doctorate to even be qualified for any of the mutiple licenses. For the stuff made from corpses, you need written permission in a contract by law from the familes of the decesed to make these monsters, even if they were prisoners. For Stuff that Experimemnts with animals you ohave pretty much free reign. However creating a slave from your monster is illegal, once it's alive it's a citizen of their respective country.
In the case of Cryptids. Cryptids are far more common and are like any other animals. Many can be tamed as pets, but some are considered dangerous. Some are considered endangered and very rare like Sasquatches and Nessie. They are part of zoos as well.
In the case of Kaijus: Kaiju's live on their own private island, they have medallions to shrink them to normal size so they can go to work. They are very powerful creatures, and are often signed up for manual labor.
In the case of Demons and Devils (Yes I am using DnD Logic where there is a difference because it's fun): Lesser Demons/Devils do intergrate with society very well. higher level demons can live in this world but they have many restrictions placed on their power. Devils and Demons are different races and like in DnD they really don't get a long that well and are hugely racist towards each other.
In the Case of Angels: They are banned from Hunting Demons/Devils and Vice Versa. Most consider being police but some have their own careers.
In the Case of the Undead: First off Necromacy does require a license like Man Made monsters. It's less complicated to get but it is a required to get permisson from the loved ones or the prisons to get the corpse. Undead where they are made are considered citizens and have free will, Zombies are required to go to a training camp after creation to strengthen brain power, like with Lycanthropes and Vampires there is a false flesh they can eat that's good for them. Zombie Servants have to be paid. If they made illegally, they are still considered citizens.
In the Case of Ghosts: They are considered people and follow the Undead rules.
In the Case of other types of Monsters: They have to follow the law like everyone else.
LAWS FOR MONSTERS:
1. Lycanthropes and Vampires can not create more unless there is express consent from the person becoming one.
2. Kaiju's can not become full sized in populated areas because they might smash buildings.
3. Undead are considered citizens killing them is VERY illegal.
4. The various licenses are there for a reason, committing Necromancy or Making a monster without them is a class A felony.
5. Killing a "monster" because they are "monster" is considered a hate crime and capital murder.
6. Demons/Devils and Angels can not engage in Holy War type scenarios. They will be considered as treason to a country and put down by the proper authorities.
7,. Rare Cryptids can be bought but like with real life endangered species you do need a license.
8. Ghost just can't barge in and haunt a random house, they need to buy one like everyone else.
And that's my first bit of contribution, I figured handling the Monster Races should be my department given my love affair for them. However if you have any other idea in this part let me know. I'm interested in details of what you have in mind for this department.
Things that need clarification:
Laws concerning Magic.
Magical education.
Are the counties real life counties or are they fictional?
If they are real life countries what would events in history look like: Would American's founding fathers have magic? Was Slavery a thing? Ect Ect.
If they are fictional: We need history...and lots of it.
Other Magical Races and how they fit in.
Is there the kind of segregation that exists in cities even though segregation is illegal? Like for example in Omaha, North O is considered the "Black Neighborhood".
Are Humans the Majority or Minority?
What would this world even look like?
As you can tell, I really want this to work and want all of your inputs.
