Amelia was eating breakfast quietly in the dining hall, reading. Ryker finished his bowl of oats, leaning back to rest his eyes for a moment. He’d been up late, piecing together the maddening day he’d had yesterday and trying to make sense of it. Working with Pendragon’s surviving rebels. He would have never imagined it, but he quite enjoyed it. Even if they were gruff. Roland nodded. “Hypha is an experienced light mage, who will also be able to communicate with us instantly. I hope your training goes well,” he said. Hypha waited quietly, looking...bored. She wasn’t exactly excited to go live in the woods for who knows how long, but she didn’t exactly have a choice. Suzanne Heron could not believe this was the job she was stuck with, shepherding incoming students around the city proper, and teaching them the ins and outs of Arcana. A “student mentor” as they put it, it made her want to gag, but...it was the next step in proving her worth to the school. So, she would do as she was told, but she wouldn’t coddle these newcomers. “Right, listen up. My name is Suzanne. Suzanne. Not Suzy, not Anne, not Annie. I am not your friend, nor will I be. I am your mentor and your guide as you adjust to life in Arcana and your studies here at the university, but so help me, if you come to me for help with anything that isn’t related to casting, conjuration, or night magic, I will bestow upon you a curse so terrible you will wish you had never set foot upon these stones. I will not do your homework, I will not help you un-hex your roommate, I do not care what you do but if you get me in trouble...” she paused, frowning as she looked over all of them. “Don’t. Any questions?” She paused again, watching as several hands went up. “None? Good. Let’s go. Keep up, I will not wait for you,” she said, and then turned and began to walk into the city. (have a young, 3KX Suzy, except she’s not at all that smiley)
