"Red hair, not being allowed to ever leave, and her age coinciding with the...unfortunate departure of Pendragon's wife from his life, for starters." Percival tried to explain. "And also, her sister, Kira. Those two residing under the same roof support each other's existence there, though which allowed which to happen, I'm not wholly sure."
"That is a lot of coincidences, but still...Why would he keep Pendragon's child?" Gene asked.
"He's a vile man, and currently both of Pendragon's children are sided with Richard on all fronts. One out of ignorance, the other out of choice. I can't forgive Kira for her betrayal, but this Amelia, she likely doesn't know the truth. I think if we can convince her of the truth, she may prove invaluable in causing a greater overturn within the people. A horrid act committed on a different people is one matter, a matter too disconnected for your average worker to concern themselves with for long. But this, this is a far more public affair, one that will show the royal family cannot be trusted in any capacity. If even their bloodlines are a lie, surely the people will come to understand anything and everything they say could be a lie." Percival relayed.
Gene could feel a bead of sweat running down the side of his head, as a new realization set in. "So that likely means that Regina is..."
"Dead, or worse. The man tracked down Pendragon's wife and murdered her, taking her child to raise as his own just as an insult to his enemy." Percival's hand tightened into a fist, but he resisted the urge to slam that fist on the table. "And realizing this is what killed our leader, Gaheris. Seeing her within the castle, realizing in that moment why he'd never seen his wife again in all those years...He died asking me to save her. I can't let him down. Not again."
"If you're not willing to fight for this," Galahad finally spoke up, "Say so. But this isn't a suicide mission, we could have won that last siege if we hadn't lost heart at the last moment. There's no reason we couldn't do it now."
Gene exhaled, taking in all the information being presented. He felt Brenna slip her hand over his underneath the table, and without even a look to her he knew what it was. She was nervous, unsure of what the right call was to make. So was he, unfortunately.
"Well, if you're this dead-set on convincing me, there's nothing a handshake and an explanation couldn't fix. We just have to collectively put our weapons away, first." Kallon offered, holding up his hands with both magic knives resting in them. "Or magic, for two-out-of-three of us."
"Probably." Ken shrugged. "I don't know how many books there are in the world, but she has a lot of them. I haven't found my journals in the library yet though..." Ken lowered his head, thinking. "I really hope they're not, that's a serious breach of privacy."
