They were a guide to all and are praised all over the world for their additions to the world of magic that spawned from their heroics. Overtime however, the days of sword and sorcery became products of a bygone fantasy, but that does not mean that magic has simply left the world. It simply means it has changed. However one thing has not changed and that is the fact that these heroic deeds were not forgotten by the magically adept, and that magic should be controlled and taught. Thus the city of Solaris and other cities like it were formed, home to the Magically inclined, and each with their own magical academy. However none are more prestigious than the one in Solaris: the Spell Bound Academy of the Magically Adept and their two famous dorms, Day Dove and Night Raven, in the city of Solaris. The City of Solaris is a city that was founded by the mages of Spellbound Academy as a sort of home away from home, that organically became it's own city. It inspired other academies to make their own cities, however Solaris is the most advanced and the largest by far. Many famous to mages landmarks reside in Solaris, and eventually non magical beings started to drift there too adding to the metropolis. The city's most popular places and landmarks are. The Museum of Legends: In this hall legends from all over the world are celebrated, with the six who inspired Day Dove and Night Raven academies each having their own separate wing. Many artifacts from the amazing heroic adventures these legends went on are here. It is the second largest building in the Solaris area, next to the school itself. The Solaris Zoo: This Zoo is home to Animals both Mystical and Regular the Solaris Zoo is owned by the eccentric but loving Edward Tyan. With patience and love, he has made a beautiful zoo. Many Spellbound students come to the place to work or relax. Their most popular exhibits are the Aviary which holds flying creatures of all types, and the Cryptid Woods, an exhibit that shows Creepy Cryptids from around the world. (The later is very popular around Halloween season) Market Square: This trading hub is the local market for stores of varying sizes. It's here where most students buy spell ingredients or various other items that are needed for the dorm. There has been a fear of Wonder Soda, the most popular drink, wanting to buy Market Square however, the Mayor of Solaris assures that there is nothing to worry about. The Mana Bana Nightclub: This Nightclub was established for students by students. This place is one of two places where the students of Spellbound spend their leisure time, whenever they have it. It has it all, a massive dance floor, a DJ playing the most popular hits, for students 21 or over there is a bar where the first drink of the night is half off, but every refill is full price. This spot is a favorite among Night Raven students. The Orpheum Theatre: The other popular hangout, the Orpheum is where students can watch Solaris actors (Or even their fellow students) put on fantastical plays wtih wonderous effects due to magic. Many consider it a wonderful time,a movie but in reality. Recreations of many popular stories are avalible, with a few plays that go year round. (The Silent Forest, The Solaris Nightmare, and finally The Bells of Delight) This is a very popular hangout for Day Dove students. (And of course the School itself) Many powerful mages dream of one day being accepted into this academy and some dream harder of being accepted into one side or the other. That is because Day Dove and Night Raven are inspired by the legends of the past, but some legends inspire one dorm more than the other. Day Dove Mainly takes inspiration from these Legends: The Life Giver: Also known as Salaria Holazar, this elven magic user famously turned a barren wasteland that was destroyed by a corrupt king into a thriving land of great vegetation, she went on to be named as the land's hero and etched her name into history. Students of her Dorm often praise her humble nature since she never sought to become a leader and instead helped a land because it was right. The Knight : also known as Illas Valas was a heroic battle mage that fought in a great war to help stop a rogue magic user that was attempting to take over an entire kingdom. The Knight would not let it stand as he fought for 3 days straight until the battle was won and his Kingdom was saved. After a long rest, he was hailed as a hero. Students of his Dorm praise his will and his loyalty. They often practice the art of both combat and shield based magic in his honor. The Unlikely: real name Gurd. This Goblin was the most unlikely hero to ever lived and gave hope to those who practiced the light but existed as society's scorn. The Son of two rival clans, The Unlikely grew to be ostracized by his peers until one day a powerful Orc clan began raiding and pillaging Goblin villages. The village tried in vain to make a fortification strong enough to repel the Orc invaders. It was all for naught as the Orcs bashed through the defenses of the village. The Orcs began to rampage until, a mysterious hole began to appear under them as they fell into spikes, their warriors were suddenly crashed by a boulder that somehow was calculated to make sure it wouldn't touch a single building, clearly controlled mystically. Just as the Orcs came to devestate, the Unlikely, in a matter of moments, devestated the Orcs with clever planning and mystical traps. He is praised for his creative mind and problem solving. While Night Raven mainly takes inspirations from these Legends: The Angel of Darkness: The hero of the night, Vindex Mors, did not start off on a happy life, however the Angel of Darkness did not let it phase her as she grew from the experience, even if society treated her like an outcast for her practicing in Witchcraft and studying various dark arts while training her mana. Everything changed though when mysterious happenings began to ravage her home during the night. The Angel of Darkness set out and stood face to face with the culprit. It was an outcast, very much like herself, a man who desired to punish the world for what they did to him. Knowing the Angel of Darkness's own plight, he offered a place for her at his side: The Angel of Darkness refused and engaged with him in a duel of the dark. They two fought until the morning light, unaware that they were in the center of town. Their mana at their limit, each of them prepared their final strike. The man fired a magical blast full of dark energy, however the Angel of Darkness countered by controlling his own blast with her own magic as she finally defeated him. Battered, broken, and bloodied she fell to the ground, victorious. The Angel of Darkness is praised for her showing that the Dark Side of magic does not have to be evil. The Beast King: the only legend whose real name is lost to history but his deeds are not. The Beast King lost his parents at a young age to a fire caused by a corrupt King. In Exile the Beast King only made one real friend, a little Bobcat who followed him everywhere. It would be the first of many as from childhood to manhood he would travel and make a new animal friend every day. However he never forgot about the memory that was burned into his soul. By accident, the Beast King returned to his home upon his travels and looked at the corrupt king still reeking havoc after all these years. It was time for a change, and the old expression burned in the Beast King's mind. If you want something done right, he needed to do it himself. With his all of his beast friends he had made in his travels by his side, including his trusty Bobcat, he slew the corrupt King and became a hero to all. He is praised for his connection to nature and his ability to adapt to his surrounding. The Monster: a beast unlike any other, the Monster, naming himself Ko Aku, was cursed from the very start of his life. When he was born a witch cursed him that he would transform into a beast over time unless he found a way to break the spell before he came of age. While the tale is familiar, the story does not have a happy ending. It was to late for him when he came of age hand right in front of the woman he thought he had loved he turned into a beast forever. Feared and geered for society, the Monster had to flee into the mountains, crafting a home for himself, the Monster tried to find a way to undo his tragedy. He practiced magic spell upon magic spell, but nothing worked. He could only watch as his village grew into a city, and the city grew into a Kingdom. As he yearned in silence for a normal life, he saw something from his home. There was an angry giant rampaging towards the kingdom, the kingdom's guard fought bravely but no mere man could stand up to this giant. However, the Monster was no mere man, the Monster had bolted from his home in the mountains and confronted the Giant. Looking down at his foe the Giant was curious. The Monster though had eyes filled with his own rightous fury. Knowing he was in danger, the Giant went to kill The Monster right away but the Monster used a spell to shrink the Giant to his size. Now on even terms the Giant's punch did nothing to affect The Monster, and so for what seemed like hours, the Giant flailed against The Monster who used magic and his monsterous form to counter. Finally the Giant was exhausted and passed out in the middle of town. The next thing The Monster knew he was cheered by the masses that once feared him. He was praised near and far and moved into the Castle as one of the top advisors of the land. He is praised for his percervierence and loyalty. Despite their differences in beliefs, the rivalry is not even really all that much of a rivalry. It's why the only buildings that are seperate from each other on campus is the dorms. Day Dove and Night Raven are separated across from each other by a massive courtyard that students usually use to hang out and relax, enjoying the outdoors. Thread Rules: 1. The Basics 2. Students know all kinds of magic but they only have one kind of magic they specialize in. 5. The following magic are currently unknown by all students: Space and Time Manipulation, Major Necromancy, and Reality Warping and while students will become amazingly powerful during the duration of the thread, that will not be for a while. 8. This Dean of Spellbound has been around ever since Night Raven was founded. Which is not really much of a brag since he was the one who thought of the two dorm system. He graduated Spellbound the top of his class however he could not find a place in the mystical work force and his mind drifted back to his experience in Spellbound. While the classes were fine, the Professor and Dean very respectful, Dire remembered the cramp Day Dove and how those it felt like those who specilized in the dark did not have a voice. So he returned to Spellbound and spoke with Dean Grace Peacemane, as the two spoke with each other, Grace began to see that Dire was correct and the two formed the Night Raven dorm under one condition. With the second dorm there was going to be an influx of students. So she would need help, she would need a second Dean to handle issues. Dire agreed and Night Raven quickly grew into the second dorm and a peaceful place where people belonged. Now a days things have largely been the same, though most of the students with issues in Night Raven go to Dire Crowly. It was their inspiration that lead her to found Day Dove to help the future generations to learn and grown from the stories that were told. For a time every student lived in one massive dorm known as Day Dove. Grace put her heart and soul into it, but Day Dove soon became massive and the young being the young, there were many problems. They were driving her crazy until her former student Dire Crowly came up with a brilliant plan to expand the school. With the installation of Night Raven, stress about her life began to unwined. Now a days though, here is a massive excitement that flows through her veins. Her own daughter Hailey will be attending Spellbound, and she could not be prouder of her. "Pure as the driven snow" because of her looks, and how she conducts herself, it is often a mocking description from people who don't know any better. Neige however is worried, this is her senior year, and that means she has to hold an election between the student council members...of which....she does not feel any of them are ready. There comes expectation, a controlled future, life long pressure and stress to succeed or else. Gloria didn't even want to come to Spellbound, however her family made her. They provide for her like many other students, and every day she walks past the painting of The Monster there is a feeling of bitter resentment on her side. The only thing making this somewhat bearable is that her big brother, and his new girlfriend, are both here and helping her through the processs. Her goal when she graduates is to move far away from expectations as much as possible. Far away from legends, far away from magic schools, and far away from her family. She comes across as stand offish to others, projecting her resentment in a form of snooty actions and thoughts. That describes Lyndis Seele to a tee. This intellegent Merfolk uses manipulation, and trickery to obtain anything she wants,(Which is how she ended up as the Studetn council treasurer) while on the outside projecting a demeanor of this humble shy girl who is curious about the surface world. In actuallity, she knows everything about the surface world. However, she is okay playing the part of an idiot while secretly lying and cheating her way to the top. A place she comfortably sits on with the Student Council. She has no real goals at the moment but when she does she'll do whatever it takes to succeed. After all, no one would suspect sweet little Lyndis...would they? Inspite of all she's acomplished, people rarely approach her, she's not in any social cliques, and any boy who has asked her out she turned down instantly because they were not interested in her, just her power. Kurai is often rarely seen anywhere but outside of Night Raven in her dorm. Many rumors surrouond her in Night Raven due to her heritage,(none of em good) and only time will tell if they are nothing but that. Her life controled by her mother trying to look out for her. She was a shoe in for Day Dove, and no one is surprised that she got into the school by an advanced scholarship. So Hailey joins her mother's legacy and will...whether she likes it or not. However, life tried to throw curveball after curveball after curveball at him. His mother died when he was young, his father left him all alone, he struggled in school no matter how hard he studied, and he developed magic very late into his life, on the day he was supposed to be sent to a non magic user school when he was a child, his first transformation happened as he roared out in excitement. The magical school system was rough, but he made it there. Singa kept pushing on and never gave up no matter how hard things got, and he made it in! Though admittedly it was barely but Singa knows he has to focus, he knows he has to be prepared. He's living his dream, now it's time to look towards the future. Extra:

Would he still be here, or would he be just another average student, putting in the minimal work required to get by? Mason Hans was born with a variation of biomagifixation, or a biological fixation on a singular element with magic, to the point of strugging without it. This extremely rare genetic defect tends to require the person afflicted to use a catalyst of their specific element to accomplish anything with their magic, else it will struggle to even escape their body, likely causing them harm in the process. Mason is a "Bioferro", or a biological ferromancer. He discovered from a young age, after months of struggling to understand why his budding magical talents seemed defective, that no catalyst worked except those bearing a majority of metal. For many others, this handicap would crush their hopes of ever achieving any great feats in the world of magic, where specializing in an element was nothing out of the ordinary. Mason was no regular person, no, he took it upon himself to prove to the world he was good enough to surpass all others, handicap or no. Sporting incredible scores across the board in everything he put his mind to, Mason was considered, to some, to be an up-and-coming genius in the magical world. Others, however, constantly casted doubt over him in his disadvantage in applying many of the concepts he showed understanding of. None doubted his intelligence, they simply doubted his ability to accomplish anything with it. This was where Mason's wide array of catalysts came into play. On his person he generally carries a sword for offensive magics and cutting through other spell effects, and a shield for defensive spells. He keeps along his toolbelt a frying pan for fire magic and reflecting of spells, a tuning fork for sound and electrical spells, a bell for necrotic spells, a flashlight for light spells, and a wide array of tools, nails and other small pieces of metal in his pouches for use as minor or sacrificial catalysts. While he can perform any sort of magic as long as he has a metal catalyst in his hands, he has yet to find a good choice for poison or acidic spells, due to their ability to destroy the metal he uses, or wind or earth magic. For earth he simply hasn't found anything that fits, and for wind, he simply does not find the use of a musical instrument practical. His secret weapon is a pistol he keeps conceal-carried, which is an all-purpose projectile spell launcher thanks to the disposable nature of bullets. Getting to the Spellbound Academy on scholarship was not only required due to his family's struggling income, it was inevitable in Mason's eyes, as he was certain he worked harder than anyone else to get there. He was smarter, he was stronger, he was better, he just needed to prove it. And there was no better proving ground than the greatest magical academy around. This was going to be his first semester, he needed to start it off strong, but humble. He couldn't have the doubting masses finding reasons to dismiss him. Extra: He can do musical magic through his tuning fork, but refuses to because he is a terrible singer. Incredibly straightforward at all times, not a fan of metaphors because they simplify explanations that deserve full recognition of their complexity. Name: Igni Torchguard Age Range or Actual Age: 20 Race: half-dragon, half-orc Magic Specialty: Fire and Air Day Dove or Night Raven: Day dove Appearance: imgur.com/JbvGOCW Bio: Born within the Torch Den, Igni's life was assuredly going to be spent in service of his faith. The Guiding Light, the light that all death witnesses, a torch within a cave guarded by dragons and serviced by kobolds. His father, the chief Keeper, had already been serving the flame for hundreds of years, and Igni suspected his own life would come and go as a servant to his father. He excelled at his religious studies, and trained as a Watchman, a warrior-monk who would some day be entrusted with protecting the kobolds during long journies. During this time he met Infernua, who was the daughter of the Stoker of Flames, the lead kobold entrusted with keeping the Guiding Light burning brightly. They were fast friends, though that was attributed mostly to Infernua's gregarious nature. Igni, for all his bright-eyed dedication, was not an especially talkative person. Still, getting to know the future Stoker of Flames was something he was glad to do. As teenagers do, Igni was no celibate, but he was never one that leaned toward relationships either. At one point he and Infernua had considered the idea, but chose to remain strictly friends, though as a result they knew more about each other than a friend normally would, and often used that against each other. This led to their friendly arguments being surprisingly aggressive from the outside, though they both knew the other wasn't being rude. Due to their personalities, these arguments led to some jokingly calling Igni the "Keeper of the Inferno", as he was the person that often reigned Infernua in when she went off to do something dangerous. All seemed set for the two, until when they were 17, and the Guiding Light almost went out. The story was not one for Igni to tell, but Infernua was more than proud enough to praise her father's sacrifice that kept the flames going. A martyr for the cause, Infernua's father left a final request for Igni, Igni's father, and Infernua each. To Igni, he was asked to keep the old kobold's daughter safe. To Igni's father, he was asked to take Infernua in and make sure she continued her studies, as he would no longer be there to keep a watchful eye on her. To Infernua, he asked her to work hard and attend a magic academy, where she could get an elite education she could pass down to the future clutches. As Infernua set off to do that at the age of 19, Igni followed behind her, intending to keep his promise as well. Igni has focused his studies on fire, as all great followers or the Guiding Light should, but also on air, as a way to cover his bases more concisely. He eventually became the secretary of the student council, though his application to do it was more of a throw-away, as Infernua had also applied for it, along with every other position. He still did his work dilligently however, as he would never disgrace himself and his people by doing anything less than his absolute best. Extra: Carries a mixture of a dragon's prideful fury and an orc's warrior rage, and as such can fall into a powerful rage, if somehow driven to that point. Doesn't know much about his mother, she was a pilgrim who bore him and left soon after. Meditates for 30 minutes each day as part of his religious fare. Name: Infernua (Of The Torch Dens) Torchguard Age Range or Actual Age: 20 Race: kobold Magic Specialty: Fire and Earth Day Dove or Night Raven: Night raven Appearance: imgur.com/rTdUy8a Bio: Birthed before the light of the Guiding Light, Infernua was to be blessed with a gentle heart, a kind soul, and a wise mind. She was the daughter of the Stoker of Flames, first to hatch, and thus the one destined to be the next Stoker. However, as she grew, it became clear she was none of the things expected of the leader of the kobolds of Torch Den. She was not gentle, she was bold, full of gusto. She was not kind, she was crass and prone to teasing the other children. She was not wise, she was reckless, more than eager to toss herself headfirst into danger just to prove her doubters wrong. By all accounts she would be a disgrace, if not for the fact that her madness and cunning allowed her to accomplish nearly anything she set her mind to. Her magic talents showed early, and they showed off in style. Infernua's affinity for fire was so grand that many questioned if the correct birth ritual had been performed. She may not have been born with the leadership skills befitting her future, but she was undoubtedly blessed by the light. The Stoker loved his daughter and retained his faith in her future, but she dealt him a great deal of stress until she became friends with the son of the chief Keeper, a half-dragon named Igni. Despite Igni being a polar opposite to her, he seemed to keep her in check on a consistent basis. She would occasionally draw him into her schemes, but even their more impossible-sounding plans managed to succeed when they worked together. Tricking a pilgrim into gambling away all their money was the worst it ever got, but Igni thankfully made her return the money before the pilgrim left, and even turned it into a lesson for both parties. One thing was certain among all this, however, and that was that her magical talents never ceased to show steady improvement. The god's blessing was potent, and he knew she would never be the sort of leader he chose to be. Perhaps she could be her own grand type of leader, though. One that could study the depths of the arcane, and bring that knowledge home to lead future clutches to a brighter future, with more people finding blessings within themselves along the way. Infernua was studious, incredibly bright, despite what could be expected of her. She memorized every bit of history of their religion, as expected of a Stoker, and was plenty eager to succeed her father some day. Despite what some may have expected, this was never dampened, not even when her father died. The Guiding Light was struggling, the Kobolds having not found coal within their current mines for some time, and the fire was threatening to die out. Some nearby trees were chosen to be burned and compressed for charcoal, but the fuel could not sustain it fast enough. Several kobold squads assisted by half-dragons were sent out to hastily buy up as much burn material as they could find, but there was no assurance they would return in time. Infernua's father knew that the fire had to keep burning, or else the spirits of the dead would have no light to guide them to the afterlife. The dead would rise, and compared to that, what was a single life given? He informed the chief Keeper of his plan, and entered into the braizer with the latest batch of charcoal. Along with igniting the coals, he allowed himself to immolate alongside them, draped in several layers of clothes and robes that could help fuel the flames. Despite how his scales normally resisted the fire, this time he burned brightly, a beacon within the Den as all present witnessed his sacrifice. The eighth true martyr of the Guiding Light in its long history, Infernua will always be proud to tell the tale of of her father's final and greatest deed. At the behest of her father, three years later at the age of 19 Infernua set off for the top magic academy in the country, Spellbound. Her best friend, unwilling-partner-in-mischief, and more recently adoptive brother Igni was in tow. It was weird at first, thinking of Igni as a brother, but as time went on she came to realize that she practically saw him as one before it was even official. She was used to his protective nature, as that was the purpose set for him once they returned home, and as such she wasn't surprised at how defensive he was with every cockeyed student oo-ing and ah-ing at the kobold, a race that was apparently considered endangered, which wasn't something she'd ever really thought much about. Sure, their way of living often led them to early deaths, but a clutch could have anywhere between six to twelve children at a time! It was more confusing to Infernua than anything, but she was never one to waste an opportunity. All these people wanting to see the rare and beautiful Infernua would get to do so, they would simply be plied for favors in return for answering questions. Igni wasn't the greatest fan of this plot, but he admitted it was safer than letting the overly-curious masses barrage them with questions until the end of time. And so, with some creative thought Infernua was able to get them a strong social foothold, and Igni a seat on the student council. She didn't get to be president like she'd hoped, but that would come with time. Infernua's studies focused on fire, naturally, as well as earth. Being able to mold the earth would no doubt be essential to the mining efforts, especially if the Guiding Light is ever in dire straits again. Extra: Lights a candle every night before bed, as a reminder of the work everyone is putting in back home to keep the Guiding Light burning.

As a result, however, that meant a severe pay cut for her mother, that they then supplemented by working evenings and parties for higher classes. As Phoebe grew to school age, she began to display skills in enchantment, which in turn made their work significantly easier, though her mother tried her hardest not to have Phoebe work at such a young age. Phoebe was not one to listen, however. Around age 10, her mother found a part time maid position with one of the senators in Solaris, Hugo Turner. The pay was enough that they were able to work only with him and the hotel, though her mother needed enough help that Phoebe still couldn’t attend school. As much as she wished to learn like others her age, she was content to help her mother and at the very least grow her enchantment powers through that work. However, Hugo noted Phoebe’s skills, and asked why she wasn’t in school. Learning that they couldn’t afford to send Phoebe to school, he immediately offered full time pay and housing in his guest quarters in order to allow Phoebe to attend school. Ruby protested as much as she could, but when Phoebe quietly asked if they could do it, there was no saying no. His sons Marcus, then 5, and Julian, then 7, had been being home schooled by a magic tutor, and Phoebe fell in quickly with the routine of learning beside them every day. Not long after, Hugo hired a studies tutor to get her caught up, and within the year she was testing at her age level and enrolled in the local private school, where she continued to excel. In the background, Ruby and Hugo grew very close, and Ruby grew to love Hugo's sons as her own as Hugo grew to love Phoebe as his. They too, fell in love, and not long after Phoebe turned twelve, they were married in a quiet ceremony in the country side. Two became five and Phoebe had a loving, tight knit family. She thrived at home and in school, and graduated second in her class. Thanks to her grades and talent in enchantment, she was accepted to Day Dove, which her father gladly paid for, ecstatic to have a child enrolled in the presitigious school. Phoebe made fast friends and is a bright spot on campus, always eager to help and connect. Within her first year, she managed to be elected Event Planner on student council, a feat highly unusual for a Freshman, and her parents were elated and endlessly proud. This year, however, she's gunning for President. Fear of what occured transformed him back quickly, however, there was no going back from what occured. He was a true heir of the Aku name, a magic long dormant in the blood line born again, though Oberon felt like it was the curse rearing its head once more. His training became the utmost priority, as an uncontrolled beast was unacceptable for his family. He found his emotions became a lot harder to handle, but with his family pushing him day and night to get things under control, he eventually learned how to quash his fear and anger into a very small place deep within himself, leaving only a stoic exterior. He grew up feared and respected, but those that knew him, knew he was quiet and kind, wanting to help and protect more than anything. In general, he only became forceful if he had to, and even more rarely used his beast form, much to his father's chagrin. He was gentle with his little sister, and remained protective of her. He saw her less when his powers appeared, but he always made time for her when she needed. Oberon was never allowed to forget his duty as heir of the name, and he did what he must to solidify his future. He got into Spellbound with ease, though if that was by his own merit or his father's pocket, he was unsure. He rose to upper ranks in grades and locked down the Vice President spot quickly, just to get his father off his back, and to make sure Gloria didn't feel too much pressure when she arrived at Spellbound a few years later. He was successful enough for both of them, so maybe she could actually enjoy school. Everything was going to plan, he just had to keep the path. What he didn't anticipate was... Calliope Dawn. She quite literally blinded him with radiance, in a spell gone wrong, but she had ALSO blinded herself. It was only because of his beast sense that he was able to save her from walking herself out a window and drag them both, blindly, to the nurse, who was able to reverse the effects after a stern chastising to the young woman named Calliope. Ms. Dawn apologized profusely to Oberon, though if it was for fear of his reaction or sincere, he didn't know. He knew of her family, the Holy Dawns, but not of her. Light magic was unusual for that family however, and it intrigued him. Not enough to distract him though, or so he thought. He noticed her everywhere: in classes, in the dining hall, in town, at parties, and in every place she was getting into trouble. She shone like a light in the darkness to him, though she often lost control of her radiance as well. She'd set off a fire alarm in one of their shared classes, started a food fight in the dining hall, helped TP the campus once, and with ever incident and accident she got herself into, he found himself drawn to her. They got closer as he tried to talk her out of the more hairbrained and dangerous ideas, but she didn't seem to mind him tagging along so he did. After she nearly got herself kidnapped, he didn't much leave her side if he could help it. A night he had stayed in to work on homework, Callie attended a party off campus with one of the fraternities. He was anxious about it, but trusted her and the friends she was with. He hadn't heard from her by the time he went to bed, but that wasn't unusual. What was unusual was the weak knock that interrupted his sleep late in the night, but he bolted out of bed and to the door anyways. Callie fell into his arms, cold to the touch, and limp. He looked up, scanning the night she'd come from and found a shadow lurking there, frozen as they seemed to realize they hadn't followed Callie to her dorm but rather, Oberon's. He gently set Callie inside, letting the door shut behind him with a click as rage ripped through him unlike he had felt in years. He couldn't hear anything over the howling in his ears. He only came to at the police station, throwing the man on the ground. He didn't wait around to see what they found, but he learned later the man was charged with possession of drugs and intent to cause bodily harm. Oberon's concern was with Callie. He care for her through the night, helping her through the worst of it and cleaning her up when she vomitted most everything in her stomach up. He slept on the floor next to where she lay on the couch, and when she woke him up in the morning with a sleepy thank you as she took his hand, falling back asleep afterwards, he realized he loved her. She didn't seem to feel the same, though she cared for him like a dear friend. It stung, but he was content with staying her friend and protector. She teased him endlessly about it, but he simply added "watching after Calliope" to his list of responsibilities and carried on. His grades never slipped, but he found he cared less about his duties than before, and pleasing is father was no longer a priority. It was...nice. Things came to a head when Callie traped themselves in a closet together late one night at the end of last school year. They were trying to hide in a campus wide game of hide and seek (a rather competitive game where mages are involved), and she got a little too zealous in her hiding strategy. They spent hours in there together, Oberon stuck with emotions he'd actively been avoiding lest Callie find out and it ruin their friendship, and the small closet was feeling smaller by the second. When she demanded to know what in the world was wrong with him, he couldn't take it anymore, consequences be damned, and he told her, he loved her. The great Calliope Dawn was stunned into silence then, but he didn't get a chance to speak again as she kissed him. They won that game of hide and seek, mostly because they forgot to keep playing though. Over the summer, Oberon has been at an internship with the Solaris City Hall all summer, working under Hugo Turner, as Callie spent her summer working downtown. They've gotten to see a good bit of each other, both electing to stay in the dorms as opposed to going home, and their relationship has only grown from there. Luckily for her, she demonstrated a proclivity for light magic that was uncommon in her family and was seek as a direct blessing from Sol, unlike her siblings who specialized in holy or healing magic. She trained relentlessly and eventually got into Spellbound, but it wasn't as much of an achievement as it may be for others. She was not the first in her family to attend Spellbound, and she certainly wouldn't be the last. She found herself in a peculiar situation however, being the only child in the family at Spellbound she was there. Her older siblings had already graduated, and the next wouldn't be old enough for Spellbound for another three years. She was on her own, and unbound from her family's expectations so far from home. She reveled in her sudden freedom and ability to stand out without competing with her siblings. She quickly decided she wanted to have fun more than anything and stopped holding herself back to the prim and proper expectations her family held. While Callie was blessed with light magic, she was not blessed with...the common sense her elder siblings were. She was brilliant for sure, and creative, but her aptitude for considering consequences was worse than most. It got her into sticky situations more than she would like, but she was as adept at getting out of them as she was at getting into them. She did feel bad, however, when others got caught in the crossfires of schemes and wounded up worse for it. She blinded Oberon with a radiance meant for something she couldn't remember, but he was at least understanding. He was also understanding with the fire alarms soaking him, and the spaghetti in his hair, and the toilet paper roll straight to the face. She'd almost accused him of enjoying being subjected to her whims, but she found she enjoyed having him around and especially watching him get exasperated with her. He helped calm down the more crazy ideas, and she found she didn't quite mind. She hadn't thought to distrust her party, nor did she think anything of it when she set her drink down to use the bathroom. She didn't even notice until a few hours later when she was far more drunk than she thought she should be. She couldn't get any coherent words out, or form straight thought over the pounding of her heart in her head. She left the party, stumbling to Oberon's dorm as fear gripped at her and nipped at her heels. She realized something was wrong, but couldn't quiet place it. Her light was urging her onwards, pulling her towards him. She managed to knock on the door before collapsing against it, but then he was there and she was safe in his arms. His embrace was safe, though she wasn't sure if it was her head or her heart that said it. She didn't remember much, but she remembered him, his hand on her back, gently tying her hair back, bundling her up on the couch. She remembered him laying on the floor beside her, and she was so grateful she'd found him. Callie was unused to being cared for, or looked after, and that he did it so willingly and unasked changed how she saw him. She too was unused to caring for anyone in the capacity she came to care for him after that. Sure, she loved her family, but her family didn't have anything to worry about, they were looked after. Oberon certainly didn't need to be looked after, but she felt drawn to look after him and worry about him all the same. Looking back, she knows now that she fell for him then, but it took her a while to recognize it. Callie takes hide and seek very seriously, enough so that she might have accidentally magically locked herself and Oberon in a closet for... several hours. Oberon was getting increasingly agitated being stuck in there with her, and Callie was in turn, until she finally demanded to know what in the world was wrong with him. He told her that being this close to her was infuriating because it was harder and harder to keep it in that he'd fallen for her and he just wanted to hold her but he couldn't. He looked immediately regretful that he'd said it, surprised and then self-conscious, two expressions she'd never seen on him, but suddenly everything made sense, and then she was kissing him and he was kissing her. To this day, she maintains that they won hide and seek that night. She had no desire to go home over the summer, despite her parents objections and demanding help with the family and church. She took a job at a bakery over the summer, not caring one bit that she was ignoring her "family duty." Duty be damned, she had a boyfriend now and she just wanted to stay over the summer and have fun before his senior year began. However, when she reached the age of 18, she applied and was accepted into Spellbound for apothecary studies, a move that shocked the coven as a whole. A coven mother in training, leaving? It was unheard of. They still let her go, hoping she was just going to train and then come back as a better leader, but that was never Viv's intention. She left to become an independent witch, tired of coven rules and judgemental eyes. She wanted to brew potions and perfect her craft and host her own little apothecary where she could help everyone in need, not hide away in the forests. She wasn't able to completely separate from her old habits however, and took over as junior coven leader for the witches on campus when the other graduated. She maintains a positive role on campus, friendly and helpful as ever. All the young witches flock to her for help and advice, and she does enjoy helping wherever she can. People in both dorms know her as a go to for potions, be it healing potions, sleep potions and the like. What she hadn't intended on, was ending up with the sided business she did. Before the junior coven before her left, she took her aside and started mentoring her in the more illicit potions. How could Viv say no to that? It was a chance to build up her savings, build clientelle, learn even MORE magic and... to be honest, it was kind of fun. She sold under the name, "The Lady" and offers any fun potion or drug you can think of for the right price. Just for fun and to creep people out, as well as maintain the mystere, her point of contact is the old well beneath the school. A drop of blood in the well, and she'll take your call. It was nothing more than a summoning spell she'd cast on the well, but she had her fun with it. However, her time at the school is coming to an end, and she she is looking for a successor, though she's also willing to keep it going since she plans on opening an apothecary in Solaris once she graduates. As many were hurrying to get their room situations handled, many more were out and about the city itself with friends or family, to enjoy the time before obligations and schedules entered back into their daily lives. Mason Hans, a student who had arrived a week early, looked out from the window of his room on the third floor. The door was left open as an invitation for any that wanted to stop by, but he had otherwise been spending the week studying and practicing before classes started. Now, however, he was taking note of those who arrived at the last minute. If they couldn't be bothered to show up before the last minute to the campus, he certainly couldn't trust them to do anything else before the last minute. Carrying two large boxes on his shoulders, the half-dragon Igni Torchguard looked down at his adopted sister, the kobold Infernua, to confirm she was still following with the small box of candles she carried. "We are certain that is the last of your boxes, yes?" He asked her. "Gotta be, this is our third trip," She remarked, confidently carrying the 2-pound box in both hands. "And we've already brought up uh, 8 boxes I think?" "Father took you running out of candles twice last year very seriously, it seems."

She'd spent all summer planning it, the great big bash to welcome the start of the new school year. It was bound to be a show, as always, but she hoped it would be extra special this year. Several boxes levitated behind her as she talked, the parents and students both charmed by her smile. Oberon was working quietly at his desk, finishing up his intern review. Today was his last day, and he had a meeting in the next couple of hours to discuss his work this summer. It had been an exhausting summer, but he'd learned a lot about the inner workings of Solaris that granted him a greater respect for government on the local level. He'd have to thank Phoebe again for her help in getting this internship with her father. Callie was helping with Freshman orientation this year. How she got this job, she couldn't remember, but at least it was fun. She was leading a rapid fire tour around campus for the newbies, though from the sheen of sweat on student and parent faces alike, she was running them through it at a ragged pace. Whoops. Viv lounged in the shade, stirring the cauldron next to her idly as she watched the ruckus on campus. She only had a couple new girls in the coven this year, and they had moved in on the New Moon last week, so they had been set for a while now. They were all inside preparing rituals to welcome the school year or blessing binders and pens and whatever. She'd reminded them this morning that luck charms were still forbidden, but so long as she didn't catch them and they didn't get caught, she couldn't really be bothered to police the rule.

Years in the magical school system, though it ups and it's downs, she was always in Solaris or in Spellbound supporting her mother. Standing with her bags in her hand, she started to realize slowly that this was real...she was really a student here. New eyes to see the academy for what it really is. She paused however as she looked down spotting an approaching woman in white was pure as the driven snow approaching her straight out of a storybook.. A small smile came to her face as she said "Neige!" With a small smile the student body president said "Hailey!" smiled as the did a quick friend hug "So you're a student now, huh?" which caused Hailey to nod as Neige stated "Eh, don't worry, you know I got your back." she motioned "Come on, your mom's inside with your dorm key. I volunteered to take you to your room" Gloria took a deep breath as she entered the courtyard once more. The wonder and whimsy of last year felt like such a childish game now, she should have signed the permit and just stayed at Night Raven through the whole year. Having to go back to her father and hear him nit pick every single detail was not fun. Three more years to go and she can be done with all of this forever. While the sense of resignation began to fade it, it quickly faded out with a sense of tension. She looked up to her right and spotted her, the half demon, staring right at her. Why was she doing that? What is going on? Her fear faded when the mysterious girl moved her head back inside going back to what looked like work. A slight chill overcame Gloria as she started to frantically look for her brother. Find Oberon, say hi, go to her room...that's it. Lyndis bubbly, secretly wishing she was being filleted, said to some of the newer students "Okay then, it's nice to meet you. Please enjoy yourself!" Why did she choose to do this?! This wasn't an easy job! This was pain! This was misery! She felt like a damn mascot! Singa smiled as he walked up next to a strange girl with white hair and a clawed arm. He took a deep breath and said "I did it..." as he drank this all in. The heavy bags under his arms were a fading memory for him, as the weight of Spellbound began to consume him. He looked up and said to himself "I made it." He started to walk towards the two dorms as he saw a flamboyant man outside of the twisted black steel of a commanding gate that would be Singa's future for the next four years, the gates that lead to the mysterious marvel that was the Night Raven dorms As he slowly approached, the man looked at him as he looked at him confused, then realized who it was when he saw the coat that was aligned with black feathers of corvids, as Singa became face to face with Dire Crowley, one of the two Dean of Spellbound! The founder of Night Raven! Mr. Crowley said "Mr. Heran is it?" Singa merely nodded at that question as Crowley said "You are my last freshman left on my list to greet today. Welcome to Spellbound young man," He handed him a key "Your room key, you're going to love your roommate, he's also a new comer but arrived a few days before you. His name is Mason Hans I expect great things from the both of you." Singa had an excited grin pointed at Crowley, who looked left and right looking increasingly annoyed "Where is your guide?" "My guide?" Singa said confused. "I asked Ms. Tsuisuto to be a last minute guide and she said she would do this." Crowley said crossing his arms. "I'll have a talk with her later. Luckily you are also my last freshman arrival today so I'll give you the tour mys...." a dove landed on his shoulder "I take that back..." "I'll just ask this Mason guy." Singa responded "Where is our room?" Crowley stated "Floor 2, Room number 103" as he walked off pulling off a note as he whipped out a phone as Singa could hear him going "You know, we don't live in the middle ages anymore right? You could have just called!" Singa took a deep breath as he made his way into the dorm, into Night Raven, into Spellbound, into the beginning of the rest of his life.

"Not a lot of interesting people here." He quietly mumbled to himself. As they delivered the last of the boxes to Infernua's room and headed back outside, they looked up for their father. Seeing the massive red dragon flying overhead, Igni flew up to meet him with Infernua sitting on one shoulder. "Do you have everything?" The Chief Keeper asked, moving to offer the massive satchel at his side to them once more. "I believe so." Igni replied, opening up the large metal seal that kept it closed. Both he and Infernua looked inside the chasm of leather, seeing a single box. "Oh, right, my things." "I got it." Infernua replied, diving into the bag and scrambling back out with the one box in her hands.

Oberon glanced at the time on his phone and winced. Whoops, he was running a little late. He hurriedly finished everything and turned it in with the secretary. "I'm going to go ahead and take my lunch," Oberon said as she set the intern review aside to hand off to Mr. Turner. The secretary nodded and Oberon took his leave, rushing towards the school. He was supposed to be there for when Gloria arrived, but he was running a little behind. Callie ended the tour back at the dorms, waving the new students off as they all discussed whether a nap was possible right now. She glanced upwards, noticing a dragon overhead. She watched in fascination for the moment. Viv scattered a few french fries to her two familiars, two pigeons named Pip and Paul, as they hopped around the sidewalk before her, chasing bugs and digging at the weeds. They descended on the french fries ravenously as Viv munched on some herself. A younger sophomore witch came up, peering into the cauldron. "Careful now," Viv warned her, glancing over. "Wouldn't want to try this one early."

There was a great big smile as she looked aheaad seeing her mother, the founder of Spellbound and Dean of Day Dove Grace Peacemane. Grace clearly beamed as Hailey approached. "You're finally here" Hailey nodded at the statement. Neige looked at the family as Grace said "That will be all today, Neige. You should go and get the student council ready for the introduction rally for the freshman of both Day Dove and Night Raven." Neige nodded and left. She thought she had a great handle on it already, but she should run it by the Student Council first." Lyndis smiled and said "It's going well, it's nice to see so many fresh faces in Spellbound this year. I'm looking forward to meeting some of the Night Raven freshman." She paused and asked "Hey...are we down a guide? I don't see Kurai or Oberon." seeing Grace standing there like an idiot as Lyndis was laughing at her in her mind, and grateful to not see that weird witch. Singa managed to make it to the door room easily as he knocked in on it seeing a guy with a bunch of power tools. He asked "Excuse me, are you Mason Hans?" to make sure he got the right room since Mr. Crowley seemed distracted. Gloria stood and waited for her brother, annoyance starting to form on her face. He knows better! He better not be fooling around with his girlfriend

He was used to burning smells, as was Infernua, but intense smells like incense were far more common among Igni's activities than Infernua's. Neige walked past the Aku siblings and went to Lyndis and Phoebe. She was sure everything was okay as always but it never hurts to double check. Hailey looked at her room...and paused as it really started to sink in, the chaos of the day broken by the calmness of the room.
