Saul continued running. He reached the castle doors and quickly stepped to the side before a falling chunk of rubble could crush him. The corridors ahead were chaotic. One moment the torches would extinguish and fill the place with darkness, then violently ignite again in an epileptic manner. The entire place was unstable.
"Josh!" Christian heaved. He got up and pushed past him, running to Felicia and jumping onto her spear. He jumped off of it and turned around mid-air, cutting across Solthurax's wrist as he landed.
Solthurax shrieked as his thumb was hacked clean off and fell to the ground, oozing magma-esque blood that scorched the ground. The impact from the spear pushed him forward and caused him to drop Corrine. He turned to retaliate before feeling a sharp pain down his wrist. His blood was leaking everywhere turning the ground into a hazard. He set his sword aflame and swung to cleave through the nearest person before getting stopped by a bolt of lightning. He hissed, then found his feet were being encased in earth. Before he could react a boulder struck his chest and brought him to a knee.
Saul continued to pelt the Demon with various magics, his face stone-cold with resolve, "You're weak now!" He barked, "Give it up."
Christian took a deep breath and walked towards Solthurax whilst being mindful to avoid the growing puddles of Demon-blood. He raised his sword and pushed forward with all of his strength, breaking through the hard flesh that made the Demon's chest with a distasteful crack. He pushed further, driving the blade through Solthurax until all but the hilt was embedded inside him. The Demon's eyes widened and his roars were reduced to little more than incoherent rasps. Unbeknown to Christian, he slowly raised a hand and seized the sword, pulling it from his chest and throwing Christian aside. A wave of fire blasted from within him and smashed apart any restraints holding his feet in place and knocked everybody off their feet. He toppled backwards and fell into a pile of rubble with a deafening crash, becoming buried in the falling debris dislodged from the impact.
There was silence for a moment. Then he emerged one last time, "No... I... refuse." He spluttered, "I will not return empty handed" His sword slipped from his hand and dissipated. He fell to his knees and his wings and tail drooped. His form started to collapse exponentially quicker, parts of him slowly fading out and in again before he started to collapse into ash at the seams. His body became a whirl of this ash, spinning around violently, though a weak outline of his visage was visible within, fighting with all that remained within him to keep his body corporeal, "You may have saved this age of mortals but I... will... burn your descendants. All of this carnage... To merely delay me." His voice lost some of its hateful edge, if only for a moment. It was almost mistakable for sounding solemn, "The abyss welcomes me home."
