After nearly one thousand years of peace in the Galactic Federation, a galactic government comprised of most sentient species in the Milky Way Galaxy, a great sickness known as "Serpenien Rot" swept through many sectors of the Federation. Forced to respond on a galactic level, the Federal government, centered on the megastation Anthopolis, ordered sector-wide containment protocols to stop the sickness from spreading. To prevent the sickness from moving out of these containment zones, federal vessels were ordered to fire on any vessels leaving the designated sectors. While the federation did suffer, the pain and suffering felt by those within the zones saw no parallels.

The rot, which infected individuals slowly, transformed their bodies into gnarly and ravaged monstrosities that scarcely resembled the being they were before. It was observed that they attacked the uninfected, with the aim to spread their sickness, which suggested some kind of hive mind at work. Federal researchers couldn't decipher the origins of the sickness, providing no cure or ailments to those suffering beyond a swift death before they were fully taken. Across the quarantined sectors survivors still fight across the myriad of ruined worlds in the hopes of eventually finding safety, whether that be from the Federation or otherwise.

This Role-Play follows the crew of the Eislenia, a small but audacious group of survivors trying to stay alive at all costs.
