Name: Princess Peridot “the Phoenix” Approximate Age: 230, looks 25 Race: Velkar Appearance: Finding winged people in modern art is hardBio: Peridot considers herself the last ditch effort and hope for her people to have a life outside of hiding. The only problem is, she had no idea where any of her people are. So, she’s been searching, for years, to no avail. She knows next to no-one, and no one knows her. Thus, she resorted to her broadcast. On radios, TV-networks, even printed in papers. It was dangerous, significantly so, but coded enough that hopefully only the best Velkar hunters and her Velkar’s would understand. She has worked hard to create a name for herself, that at least THAT would precede here. Her powers, and her efforts against the Velkar hunters have been intense, harrowing, but so worth it. Anything to make her people safer on this journey to a safe home. Extra: Name: Athena Moralys Approximate Age: 19 Race: Half-breed Appearance: what a saucy punkBio: Athena is a bi-product of two races combining, a Velkar father and a human mother that mixed their genes and somehow made her, a rare occurrence. Athena’s mother, Yvonne, told her that the moment she said she was pregnant, her father left. Yvonne never kept secrets from her daughter, because she believed in knowledge and its powers in this world. Athena grew up knowing the stories of what the Velkar did, the atrocities they had committed, and seeing how her father left, she was inclined to believe them. A hatred festered in her for the Velkar, for that half of her because her father had left Yvonne helpless, pregnant, and struggling. But Yvonne made it work, and gave her daughter everything she could. That was, until Athena was 11. Late in the winter, when money and food was low, and the only comfort they had was a low burning fire and each other, the humans from town came for them. Earlier that day, Athena had been caught practicing her air magic in the woods by a hunter, and they had found out that Athena was not all human, but that Velkar blood ran in her veins too. She thought nothing would come of it, but she soon learned how very wrong she was. They came late at night, wielding clubs and knives and a vicious anger. They beat her mother bloody, and slit her throat in front of Athena. Then they came for her, beating her senseless, and stabbing her several times. She held her breath, relying on her air powers to maybe trick them, and she succeeded, somehow. They left her be, and, heart broken and near death, she crawled beside her mother’s cold body and wept. That morning, when Athena woke up and wasn’t dead, she wished she was. She had discovered that it didn’t matter whether you were human or Velkar, both were monsters. Both were despicable to her. But, somehow she wasn’t dead, which meant there was something else needed of her. She buried her mother in the frozen ground and left, traveling from village to village aimlessly. Eventually, a year after everything happened, she found a somewhat sympathetic stranger that took pity on a hardened child on the streets. This was Melvin, the first Velkar she had ever met. He was old, innumerably so, and still deeply in love with his late human partner, Howard. Melvin taught her a great many things, but most importantly, he taught her how to defend and take care of herself, without using her powers. Since she was a half-breed, and bore no wings, it was only her powers that would sell her out, so that should only be a last ditch effort thing. Melvin was tough, hard to deal with at times, but, in the end, a lifesaver for Athena. One day, she left to gather food from the market, and returned home to find the apartment ablaze. Melvin’s body was ashes, when the house finally burned out. No time to mourn, and needing to leave, she gathered his money stash and whatever she could salvage, and left town. That was two years ago now, and she had traveled slowly from town to town, camping for the most part, aimless once more. Extra: If it’s unclear, her power is wind
