The Mortum's watched the TV quietly as the movie played. Quinn barely paying any attention to it as Mort quietly watched in silence. There was nothing there, no reaction, no comments, no words of enjoyment. Just silence with only the glow of the tv screen playing.

"I think maybe it was because that wasn't very controlled?" Kara said, watching. "It's not always like that."

"Well, I think that's the first thing we can work on then, see if we can start small and find a way for you to build up electricity and regulate how much you output." Mac suggested, putting his hands down.

Bio: When Justin met his mom, Molsa, he was five years old. Molsa was a demon who betrayed other demons during the war. She was a close family friend, often staying over, and she was always kind to Justin. She would always make time to play with him, and wasn't afraid to correct him when he did wrong. His parents loved having her around, she was like the ultimate baby sitter and any time they ever needed the night alone for whatever reason, Molsa was there. Then, Molsa became around all the time, but do to tragedy. 

Justin's birth parents, Alice and Kevin, they were driving down one winter's night and a semi truck lost it's traction with them on the road. Molsa got the news while she was baby sitting Justin. Justin knew something was wrong, but didn't know what until the police came. They broke the news as Molsa was right there as he held onto her, him crying his heart that night. 

Justin's other family members were contacted but none of them could either take Justin or just didn't want him. However, most of them agreed that if they couldn't do it, Molsa could. It took some convincing to move the relationship from good friend to parent, but Molsa adopted Justin. 

Seven years have passed since then and any fears or doubts Molsa had about Justin were put to rest. Justin is growing up to be a fine boy, he's got really good grades, he's been taught kindness, and he's been recently discharged from therapy because of that. However, he's at that age where boys grow up and he's starting to look at some girls differently. He has asked his mom on what to do if he thinks a girl is pretty. His mom has said, call her pretty and that's it, and if he wants to go on a date with a girl to get to know them first. 

He's also starting to get into drawing, which makes people happy.

Mort looked at Quinn as she was very quiet. He had his bags packed, he knew where he was going, he knew how much this was hurting Quinn, yet it'ill all be worth it in the end. Quinn said "Dad I..." 

Mort walked over and gently placed his hand on his daughter's head saying "I know. I love you Quinn. Be good, be safe, and be happy. When I come back, I promise you, we're going to be a family." 

Quinn hugged her father as she whispered "I love you, Dad." 

Mort smiled softly and said "I love you too," before getting a text on his phone. He broke the hug and said "Wish me luck" 

Quinn said "Good Luck, and stay safe"

That was one month ago, and predictably, it hasn't been easy on Quinn. Sure on the outside she's doing better, and some of it IS helping. She is enjoying the animal shelter a bit more than she thought she would. She has shown up every day, she's finally starting to get the tricks of the trade. Her favorite thing about the job is just seeing how happy the animals are or how happy the kids who get a new pet are when they leave. 

As for Matt, whatever previous developing feelings were quieted down as she got more comfortable around him. He's been nothing short of a sweetheart but Quinn figured out that the reason why she was developing feelings was because she was still hurting from the incident. Getting to know Matt personally, Quinn still loves him but like a good friend. He's been a big help in calming herself down. 

However with all the positive changes in her life, there was the grim specter that hung over her head. The Thompsons, Lily, Kara, and Uncle Garrett. She hurt all of them, and it was killing her inside not to apologize like she wanted to. The whole month was agony, as she could only pass Kara by in halls with no interaction, stay away from Lily, not go anywhere near her beloved Uncle. It was like her father and pretty much everyone said. These were simple instructions that she had followed to the letter. However that didn't make them easy. 

Quinn took a deep breath in the school hallway as she whipped out her phone. She looked at it for a little bit, a whole month of good behavior, of avoiding Kara, of avoiding Lily, and avolding even her beloved Uncle. Was she ready for this? Was she seriously about to risk it all for...for just a chance? Memories quickly flashed of all the good times and how much Quinn missed them. 

Quinn took a deep breath, things may never be the same...but change won't happen if she just keeps avoiding this forever. She texted Uncle Garrett words she's been dying to say to him for this whole month "May I please talk to you before or after school?" 


Justin, in the meantime, was heading to class as he smiled. His mom packed him his lunch, his favorite...ham and cheese. He paused as he took quick glances at some girls next to him as he walked. They were pretty, however he shrank as he kept walking. He kept his mom's advice to heart, and just decided to be normal and head to class. 

Kara leaned back, digging out some pop tarts from her bag and shoved half of one unceremoniously into her mouth. It was at this point she noticed someone walking around the building, looking it over curiously. She tucked herself further into the alcove, squinting to watch him quietly.

“I don’t think anyone is going to take the football captain’s spot, babe,” McKenzie said, turning off her phone screen from texting her parents they arrived safely. Not like her parents couldn’t already see that with the tracking app they’d locked onto her phone, but it was what it was. “What do you want to do for 20 minutes then?” She asked, turning towards him.

“Kinda? It’s feels cliché,” Lily said. “Commodifying someone for their differences. That’s like people saying your parents should dress like Quicksilver and Phoenix just because of their powers,” she explained, unaware that Mickey had actually convinced Mac to do it one year.

Garret’s phone buzzed on his pocket as he drew it out and paused. Lexie noticed him get quiet and looked over worriedly to see him frowning at his phone. He sighed and texted something before putting it away. “We’ll finish this chat later, Quinn’s…stopping by,” he said. Lexie nodded quietly, understanding. “We’ll talk later,” she agreed gently.

Quinn’s phone buzzed. “Go on and stop by now.”

Allie, still flustered and failing to keep her eyes on the post, stumbled straight into the path of that boy again, managing to stop sorry but still bumping his shoes. “Sorry,” she said quickly to Gregory, stepping back to put space between them again.

The phone rang a few times before Mickey picked up. “Hey, Hun,” she said, her voice slightly muffled from the Bluetooth.

"I don't think I have anything to study for today..." Tyler replied, thinking. He was a bit oblivious at the moment, just glad nobody was in his parking spot after yesterday. Sure, it was a mistake and the guy moved as soon as Tyler said something to him, but it was still a little frustrating.

"They actually did that once, but my parents did it just because they thought it'd be funny." Travis remarked.

Gregory looked over as someone bumped into him, noticing it was that girl that bumped into him a couple of months ago. At least it wasn't as hard this time, and she actually apologized, unlike other people. "It's fine, I should've watched where I was going." He spoke instinctually, preferring to take the blame rather than make people angry at him by pointing out their wrong-doing. It was easier that way.

"Hey, just wanting to check in, how's it going? Kids make it to school alright?" Mac asked, pacing a little as he talked on the phone.

Quinn entered and grabbed a chair so she sat in front of his desk. So far, so good, so far so good, so far so good. She mentally yelled at herself to stop. No matter what happens, her Uncle loves her, her dad hammered that into her head enough as it was. She waited for Garret to come in and sit down as she said "Listen, you know why I'm here. I did something really dumb." She admitted as she continued "And I...I really want you to know, I never ever meant to hurt Kara in any way. I've been feeling this way about Kara for a while, and what I should have done was just tell her how I felt and see what happens, but I didn't do that. Because of circumstances, I wanted to show her how serious I was about my feelings. I found out later from my mom, that I did something pretty horrible. Something I never ever EVER meant to do." She let out a deep breath "As for telling Lily about it. I know it's easy to blame Dad, it is. I want to as well. It was his advice I took. However, I took that advice because Lily was like the sister I never had. I told her the truth because she deserved to know. I know now, that I could have done it a better way, maybe a way your suggested, but I don't regret telling her." 

She took a deep breath and said "As for the convivence store and the football game, I have no excuse. They were terrible lapses in judgement. I'm so glad that other people knew I was wrong and stopped from making things even worse." 

Quinn said "I'm sorry that I spoke first, Uncle Garret, but I wanted to lay it out because of all the good things that have happened and are going to happen. I met a nice guy named Matt, he's a really good friend, one I really needed. I doing some volunteering down at the Animal Clinic, and it's been great for me. Most importantly, when Dad comes home this time, he's not coming alone. For the first time I can remember I can see my mom without an orange jumpsuit having to be lead in by chains to every meeting once a month, and when I see her it won't just be for three hours. She'll be home. All this good is happening, I should be happy, but I'm not. I miss you guys so much. I miss Lily and how much fun we used to have and how she always knew how to make me laugh. I miss Kara and how, how we just got each other. I'm not going to lie to you, despite how long it's been, I still feel very strongly for her." She finished her speech by saying "And I missed you a lot. Let's be honest, you've been more of a dad to me than my dad's ever been. I know that things are never going to be the same, I've come to terms with it. However, can...can I please be in your life again? I miss you guys so much." she teared up  but not openly cried as she wiped her eyes again waiting for her Uncle's response to this. 

Justin kept walking as he looked at that one girl in his english class, what's her name again? Allie? Allie right? She and Gregory must have ran into each other again.

Garret quietly sighed. "You might not have meant to hurt us, but you did, Quinn. I get that you didn't intend for it to go as badly as it did, but it still impacted us that way. You spent that whole first bit explaining what you meant to do or how you understand how it was misconstrued or what you did, but... you haven't even said 'I'm sorry,' Quinn," he said. "If you really care for Kara like that, you should be apologizing for how much you've hurt her, how much you've hurt us, not explaining yourself. I don't want explanations, I've heard them. I'm glad things are doing better for you, really, but you should be coming at this as a way to make things right, not because you miss us. I think that you can repair these relationships, but..this method is not the way to start. Lily felt betrayed and blindsided, having no prior context, only that her sister was so angry it caused a storm and it didn't involve her for once, and then she found out you were to blame. You won't get to her until you can get to Kara. And Kara won't give you the time of day if you come at her explaining that you didn't mean to, she won't care. You have to truly apologize." He looked at her quietly."It's a selfless act, to truly apologize and accept the outcome, and it's not an easy thing to do."

"But how did you guys do Halloween in the mountains with no neighbors?" Lily clarified.

"Hi there, I'm Christian," the guy said, stopping a few feet from Kara and smiling. She found herself staring for a moment, a bit awestruck, before she recovered and cleared her throat. His voice seemed a little higher pitched, she guessed he was highschool age.

"Uh, hi," Kara said. "I'm...Claire," she lied. "Are you..?" The guy seemed to raise his eyebrows a slight bit as she lied, which made her think he knew she was lying.

"New? Yes. I just moved here this weekend. I start next week, but I wanted to get a lay of the land," Christian answered.

"Doooo you remember my name?" Allie asked, trying to roll with the rather abrupt end to his sentence.

"Uhhh," Mickey glanced at the title of the episode on her dashboard, having no recollection of what they were discussing. "The prohibition in the 20's, it seems," she said. "Too early in the episode to say if it's anything interesting."

"We just did our own thing really, or head into town if there was something going on we wanted to see." Travis replied. "Going door-to-door never really interested me, anyway. Too many weirdos in the world, and our dad probably would've insisted on going with us if we ever did."

"Yes, it was uh, Allie, right? Short for Allison?" Gregory asked. He still tried to speak properly whenever he could, as taught by his parents, and that included making sure he knew both the preferred name and proper name of anyone he associated with, to avoid any confusion.

"It's the prohibition era, we probably heard all that stuff back in school, but if you learn anything new let me know." Mac replied. "I should probably be getting to work though."
