“Anyways, I just wanted to give you your present privately,” Will said, holding out the neatly bound package he had brought along. “I’ll admit, it’s pretty standard as far as my presents go, but there’s a little something extra,” he said and Amelia laughed quietly. Of course, how could she forget. He typically got her a new journal every year to replace the last one, usually with a sweet note scrawled within. She opened the wrapping carefully, revealing an ornately decorated journal, this time secured with locks. “So, this bracelet, here,” he said, revealing a dainty ruby bracelet with a sun charm on it, “if you press it into the matching space here,” he said, pressing the pendant into a sun shaped carving, “it’ll open the journal.” The locks popped open, revealing the journal.
“Oh wow, Will, this is incredible! I love it!” She said, running her hand over the gemstone studded, metal cover, before taking the bracelet to look it over. “You’ve really outdone yourself.”
“I’m glad you like it,” Will said, swelling with pride at her reaction. “Go on, read your first entry,” he said.
Ryker pushed off his post, stretching some, before railing the two at a distance. He wondered what brought them to Makon, if perhaps there were the new beginnings of the rebellion brewing here. Maybe that explained the harshness of the guards? No, that didn’t quite match up.
