Justine waved before turning to walk towards the elevator.

Justine headed in without a word.

After a bit, Mickey sat at the table and scarfed down the eggs. She had to go out, otherwise they'd seek her out. She knew it wouldn't end up well but there wasn't much else to do. She set her empty plate in the sink, laced up her shoes and threw her backpack on. She stared at the mirror a moment. Just don't look anyone in the eyes. Out the door she went.

Justine frowned, lingering behind Noctixmo. Who was this guy?

Galvin turned. "Hello Mickey-" His eyes turned emerald as he approached, before returning to normal as he reached her. "You do not look well, forgive me for stating."

"His majesty said I could find you here." He chuckled, "Sorry. The name's Zack. I'm captain of the guard." He gave a brief chest salute, "I know it 'aint your job to be doing favours for us folk, but we're pretty strained on men and resources currently. There's a threat of a razormaw infestation in the woodlands just outside the city grounds. They need exterminating."

Noctixmo turned his head to look at him, "And what's a razormaw?"

"Filthy beasts that usually live in outside of Arrendar. They're pests. Winged bastards will deplete the local wildlife population if left unchecked. But that's nothing you can't handle, right?"

"Guess not. But why sh-" Noctixmo cut himself off. 

Just play along with it was the plan.

"Alright. I'll do it."

"Well I am willing to bet the medicines of this time are far more capable than my own, so perhaps you could find something for whatever ails you?" Galvin was smiling now, somewhat relieved she was not in terrible condition.

Galvin blinked again, his eyes a sharper shape once more, in emerald color. He looked directly into her eyes for only a brief moment, before blinking them back to normal.

An affliction of the soul, in some way.

You can do that?

I can speak with the souls of dragons residing in humans, why wouldn't I be able to speak to the souls of normal humans? They just don't respond. At best, I can check for the capability of a response, in the same way I can check what dragon resides within a dragon soul.

"I see." Is all Galvin said, nodding. He looked less happy, more serious now, but not completely serious.

Mickey looked back towards the elevator. "Are you..going out?"

"They'll be down soon, " Justine shrugged.

Zack nodded whilst Noctixmo folded his arms and waited. The sunrise painted the sky in shades of orange amongst broken clouds. The quiet humming of engines filled the background as people commuted at the start of a new day. Shops were starting to open in the market district. Far ahead of the bustling city, however - on the edge of the grasslands where the woodland started, one would see collections of corpses. Deer and cattle stripped to the bone by serrated, gluttonous jaws. Flies were abundant over the fresh carrion, and high pitched cackles and shrieks could be heard from within the trees.
